Between Now And Never

That was a long while ago,
Long enough to blur lines.
A long time ago,
Long enough for you to fade.
Once upon a time,
Once in the endless corridors of memory lane.
In a far off moment,
That I never truly let go of.
It was a blurry line,
Between a memory and a dream.
It was a distant thought,
That I ignored.
Yet, I found my mind drifting,
I found my thoughts wandering.
After years, I still thought back,
To a night we know.
A cool breeze,
A crowded camp.
If we didn’t meet then,
Where would we be?
A small group,
A new friend.
If you didn’t go,
Would I have you here?
But now you are gone,
Miles away where I can’t follow.
Where I’ll see you soon,
In a promise of tomorrow.
Yet I would often see you,
In the halls you don’t know.
In the building,
You never got to see
Always looking back,
To see if it’s somehow you.
Somehow,
After all these years.
I would often see you,
In people you don’t know.
People you might have met,
If only you stayed.
The world mocking me,
As I await for you.
The world mocking me,
As you await for me.
